In the bustling heart of Jakarta, where technology and industry intertwine, a significant challenge was brewing at Paragon Technology and Innovation. As a Product Manager with a passion for leveraging technology to solve real-world problems, I found myself at the crossroads of inefficiency and opportunity. Managers and stock handlers were burdened with manual calculations and outdated forecasting methods. Despite having access to extensive historical data, predicting future trends remained a daunting and error-prone task. It was clear that a transformative solution was needed—this realization marked the birth of Lumba AI.
Our journey began in October 2022 when Ari Wibisono, a dedicated lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science UI, initiated a collaboration with Paragon Technology and Innovation. The core issue was straightforward yet impactful: the existing manual processes were not only time-consuming but also susceptible to inaccuracies, hindering effective decision-making.
As I delved deeper into understanding the problem, I conducted over three in-depth interviews with key stakeholders at Paragon. It became evident that reliance on intuition and past experiences was insufficient for accurate forecasting and efficient planning. Users frequently found themselves dependent on the technical team to create AI models, leading to delays and inefficiencies. Moreover, the lack of user-friendly tools meant that non-technical personnel struggled to utilize raw AI models effectively.
Determined to address these pain points, I envisioned a platform that could democratize AI model creation—making advanced analytics accessible even to those without a technical background. This vision set the stage for Lumba AI, an AI-driven platform designed to streamline decision-making processes within Paragon.
Understanding that the success of Lumba AI hinged on a cohesive and skilled team, I meticulously assembled a group of five talented individuals:
With clear roles and a shared mission, we embarked on our project. I led weekly meetings to plan, review progress, and tackle any roadblocks. Additionally, bi-weekly meetings with Paragon stakeholders ensured that our project stayed aligned with organizational needs and received continuous feedback. Regular reports to the Kemendikbud review teams maintained transparency and accountability, fostering a collaborative environment conducive to innovation.
